Project Title
Exploring the response of supported accommodation homeless services to young women who drink
Abstract
Youth homelessness has been a focus of research for many years, with recent discussions examining the impact that individuals' complex needs have on their recovery from homelessness. Alcohol abuse and mental health issues are some of the complex needs most likely to present in homeless young people, hence it is important to consider how services understand and address these.
The aim of this project is to critically evaluate the impact of alcohol use on service provision for young homeless women and will incorporate concepts such as discretion, street level bureaucracy, and capital that may affect the care young women receive within homeless supported accommodation services.
