Togetherall

Togetherall - free, online, 24/7 mental health and wellbeing support for Heriot-Watt students

Togetherall (formerly Big White Wall) provides a safe space online to talk, to explore your feelings, and to learn how to improve and manage your mental health and wellbeing. It’s available 24/7, is totally anonymous and provides online peer support.

Community

One of the core features of Togetherall is that it allows you to interact with the supportive and friendly community of users. You can post anonymously about an issue or problem you may be experiencing, and other Togetherall users can suggest tips and advice to help you. Users post about a variety of issues, and you can search the categories to see if any other member is experiencing the same thing as you.

It’s important to remember that not all Togetherall users are university students. There will be people of all ages and backgrounds who will be able to support you and give advice. The Community section is also moderated by trained professionals who can provide information and advice too.

Courses

There are a range of self-help courses that you can enrol on to help you feel more in control of your mental health. There are courses to improve your sleep, help reduce drinking or quit smoking.  Other popular courses include Assertiveness Training, Managing Stress and Anxiety, Managing OCD, Managing Self harm and Coping with Grief and Loss. New courses are added on a regular basis and can be joined at various times.

Resources

There are a range of helpful articles, self-assessment tools and other resources to help you manage your mental health.  The self-assessment tools allow you to capture how you are feeling now and gauge your development and progress over a period of time.  They cover a large range of topics including anxiety, depression, eating, alcohol, drugs, fears and phobias, trauma, and general wellbeing.  Other tools include a space for you to keep an online journal and there is a really useful tool for setting personal goals.

Registering with Togetherall

You register with Togetherall using your Heriot-Watt email address. This is used to confirm that you are a student at the University, but nobody at Heriot-Watt will be able to identify you. You will then be asked to create an anonymous username that should not contain any personal information that could be used to identify who you are.
