The Thistle Seafoods Scholarship awards £3750 annually to a widening participation student studying for a degree in either Edinburgh Business School (EBS) or the School of Engineering & Physical Sciences (EPS) at Heriot-Watt University (Please follow the links if you are unsure if your subject makes you eligible).
As part of the scholarship, a summer internship is on offer with Thistle Seafoods where you will be working in the food industry, for a company which deals with some of the largest retailers in the world. You will gain experience across a variety of teams based at their manufacturing distribution site in Uddingston, Lanarkshire. This will be a paid opportunity with dates and times to be agreed.
An internship is a professional learning experience that offers meaningful, practical work related to a student's field of study or career interest. An internship gives a student the opportunity for career exploration and development, and to learn new skills.
How to apply
Please complete the application form.
If you have already applied for our access bursaries previously, we can accept an application from you for this bursary also, however you cannot hold two bursaries so you will have to decide which one to accept.
Following the application deadline of 25th August at 5pm, a shortlist will then be created and you will be invited for an interview which we anticipate happening in late September once you have started your course.
Note - this bursary is for new students who will be joining Heriot-Watt in September 2024 only. Current students who are already enrolled are not eligible to apply.
