36. Quercus robur

The common oak is a long living deciduous tree native to most of Europe. They can live over 1500 years and reach heights of 40 metres (130 feet). This specimen stands at about 22 metres (70-75 feet) tall. They are ecologically important to a host of insects and other wildlife and they are a valuable food source for birds and small mammals. The wood is widely used in furniture making and flooring.
