In partnership with Talentbank, Heriot-Watt University Malaysia (HWUM) hosted the Career and Internship Fair 2024 that brought together students and more than 50 top employers for networking opportunities.
This provided the chance for our students to take the next step towards their dream careers, explore various career paths, and make valuable connections that could shape their future.
The fair also gave an opportunity for students to win a lucky draw to win Apple iPad 9th Generation, an Apple Watch and a JBL Headphone.
Alumni Gives Back
Some of the representatives from the top employers were our very own alumni!
Subramanian Subbiah, currently a Graduate Trainee at Kliqxe Technology said, “It feels great to be back as an alumnus at Heriot-Watt University Malaysia (HWUM) to meet up with some juniors and lecturers. I still remember going to the 2023 HWUM career and internship fair when I was looking for employment opportunities. Fortunately, for the career fair this year I am glad that I came with my company to help recruit students from our university!”. Subramaniam was a Statistical Data Science student who graduated in 2023.
Kar Ek Ho is currently a Business Architect, Corporate Valuation with RGA (Reinsurance Group of America. He studied Actuarial Science and graduated in 2019 with Heriot-Watt University Malaysia (HWUM). He said, “It is exciting to be back and to see the future leaders and contributors to the world! It is my honour to be able to give back to HWUM during this year’s career and internship fair by giving our juniors advice on what to expect in their future careers. I’ve had some fruitful discussions and they really found it helpful!”.
“Returning as an alumnus to contribute at the Heriot-Watt University Malaysia (HWUM) career and internship fair brings a sense of nostalgia for me. It feels wonderful to be back! One of the advices I would give to the current students is, always remind yourself that the more that you push yourself now, the more prepared you will be for the future. I will always cherish and remember the friendships I made at HWUM. It is always the greatest feeling whenever we get to meet each other again, said Koh Jing Yan. He is currently a Graduate Trainee with Kliqxe Technology and studied Statistical Data Science student before graduating in 2023.
