Cherwell UK visits HWUM

Heriot-Watt University Malaysia (HWUM) hosted an educational visit from the Cherwell School, Oxford, UK, on 4 April 2024. This visit is part of the Turing Scheme, a UK Government programme that provides funding for international opportunities in education and training.

16 students and 3 accompanying teachers joined the visit, and our Provost and CEO, Professor Mushtak Al-Atabi, warmly welcomed them. The first agenda of the visit was Professor Mushtak's talk on "Purpose-Driven Education." In it, he discussed how purpose can drive someone to success and the importance of having a purpose in life, encouraging the students to participate in discussions on the topic.

The event continued with a sharing session by our "Leaders with Impact" Scholars. Tey Kai Le, a Semester 3 Foundation in Science student, shared how his purposes changed throughout his life journey. He said, "Your sense of purpose is your sense of purpose. Don't let anyone tell you your purpose is less important than theirs."

The event was followed by a Q&A session, during which students engaged in an insightful discussion and ended with a scrumptious lunch.
