Ultra-short pulse laser forming of opto-mechanical components
Ultra-short pulse laser forming of opto-mechanical components
The objective of this project is to develop a novel technique for manufacturing complex opto-mechanical components using ultrafast laser processing techniques. It aims to characterise the process with optically useful materials such as technical glasses, electro-optic materials, and materials with non-linear optical properties. Satisfactory process characterisation will lead on to the design, fabrication and test of opto-mechanical components for applications in areas such as bioemdical engiinering, precision metrology and optical instrumentation, that can’t be practically realised by means of standard fabrication and assembly techniques.
