James Watt studentships

As part of an ambitious expansion programme to intensify further our world-leading research programmes, Heriot-Watt University are offering James Watt Scholarships in the School of Engineering & Physical Sciences for academic year 2014/25, opportunities may be available to both UK/EU and Overseas students.  Please see details of current project opportunities.

EPSRC Doctoral Training Partnerships (DTPs)

The Engineering & Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) provides bi-annual funding to UK universities to support their doctoral training and development in the fields of engineering and the physical sciences.   The majority of DTP funding supports studentships with relevance to the EPSRC remit and can fund stipend and fees for up to 3.5 years. We are open to Heriot-Watt, industrial partner and student-led research ideas.  Please see details of current project opportunities.

EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Green Industrial Futures

The centre brings together four of the UK’s leading universities and facilities in industrial decarbonisation.  Details about the Centre and scholarship opportunities can be found on the CDT in Green Industrial Futures website

EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Applied Photonics (Use-Inspired Photonic Sensing and Metrology)

Our four year programme places our research students on industry inspired projects leading to award of PhD or EngD.  The EngD qualification is an alternative to a traditional PhD aimed at students seeking a career in industry, and reflects the innovative nature of industrial research.  Details about the Centre and scholarship opportunities can be found on the CDT in Applied Photonics website
