Resources and skills

Resources

The Library provides access to high quality books, journals, conference proceedings and other materials to support research carried out at the University.

The Library Catalogue contains information on the Library's print and electronic holdings.

The Discovery service searches across a range of databases, including the main Library catalogue, for journal articles, ebooks, proceedings, market research reports and news items.  Discovery contains information on many, but not all, of the Library's resources.

You can also search specialist databases, including SciFinder, Web of Science, OnePetro and Mintel Reports.

You should visit the Subject Guides to make sure you know about all the relevant resources for your specialism.

If you wish to discuss the purchase of a new resources - a journal, database, book etc, please also contact your Academic Librarian.

Skills Development

Academic Librarians and Learning Advisers can provide one-to-one tuition or support for a group of students or staff on a variety of study skills, information literacy and IT topics. They also provide seminars via the Research Futures programme for PhD students.

Bookable workshops during semester provide teaching and support materials to enhance your research skills. For more information, see the Skills Development webpages.
