Employee networks

There are a number of Employee Networks at Heriot-Watt to provide peer support and help to build and sustain an inclusive culture.

These groups also enable staff and University management to plan and respond to matters arising for relevant groups.

LGBTQ+ Staff Network for Colleagues & Allies

We are a network looking to improve visibility of LGBTQ+ communities, raise awareness about issues impacting LGBTQ+ staff, and provide a supportive, social network at the University.

The Network currently has monthly informal meetups on Edinburgh campus, as well as a Teams forum. We will also have virtual meetups and open events. We are open to both LGBTQ+ colleagues as well as allies.

Disability Staff Network

We are a network providing confidential peer support and community. We're driven by compassion, kindness and progress.

The Network currently has monthly informal gatherings, alternating between in-person on Edinburgh campus and on Teams, as well as a Teams forum. Allies are encouraged though Network Gatherings are restricted to Disabled people for a confidential and safe space. We're seeking to have some sessions open to all.

HWU Parents & Carers Network

We are a peer-support group of parents and carers who study or work at HWU.

We have an active forum on Teams for sharing experiences, exchanging tips and advice, and connecting with others. The network plans to have a few in-person gatherings per year.

HWU STEM Inclusivity Network

The HWU STEM Inclusivity Network is the overarching body providing members of underrepresented groups in STEM with community, a sense of belonging, opportunities for networking, and role modelling. The network helps to support existing Women in STEM groups and initiatives by maintaining continuity, encouraging collaboration, and developing secure funding streams.

We have an active forum on Teams and plan to arrange a few events per year.
