Dr. Tracie Lea Scott is an Assistant Professor at Heriot-Watt University, Dubai. She teaches undergraduate law and postgraduate courses in International Business Management, Business Administration, Finance, and Accountancy. As a qualified lawyer with a PhD in Law, she also serves as the Programme Director for MSc Business Strategy, Leadership and Change, MSc International Business Management with Finance, and MSc International Business Management with Human Resource Management.

Academic Leadership and Affiliations

In her 20-year career, Dr. Tracie Lea Scott has been involved with interdisciplinary academic associations, including the British Association for Canadian Studies. She is currently the Co-Editor of the British Journal of Canadian Studies and continues to build networks for international, interdisciplinary scholarship.

Research

Dr. Scott’s research interests include property and constitutional law, commercial law in a comparative context, human rights, social justice, and Indigenous rights. Her book, Post colonial Sovereignty: The Nisga’a Final Agreement published in 2012 is considered to be an authoritative source on modern First Nation’s comprehensive treaties in Canada. Her work in human rights has attracted international attention, participating in several international conferences as a key note speaker.
