Transport and Parking
Heriot-Watt University Dubai is conveniently accessible via various modes of transportation. Whether you prefer Public transport, Bus service, or driving, reaching our campus is straightforward and hassle-free. We also offer a complimentary shuttle service and ample parking spaces for your convenience.
Public Transport
Our campus is well-connected by public transport. You can take the Dubai Metro to the Dubai Internet City (DIC) Metro Station, from where our complimentary shuttle bus service will bring you directly to the campus. Several bus routes, including routes 88, 83, 84, and F59 pass through bus stops around campus. You can also utilise the tram service from Sobha Realty Metro station to Knowledge Village 1 Tram station.
Shuttle Service
We provide a complimentary shuttle bus service for students, running throughout the year. The shuttle service operates between the Dubai Internet City (DIC) Metro Station and the campus, ensuring a smooth and comfortable journey.
Pickup/Drop-off Location:
- Near the roundabout between Two Seasons Hotel and Jewel Tower (Metro side)
- Bus parking beside the sports field
Please note: The metro shuttle bus will arrive at pickup locations on the given schedule but will leave immediately once it is full.

Bus Service
We offer a bus service for students residing in Dubai, Sharjah, and Abu Dhabi. This service includes pick-up and drop-off from confirmed locations, making it convenient for students to commute to and from the campus.
Note:
- Should there be any government regulation restricting movement between Dubai and other emirates, transportation services along the affected route shall cease until further notice as this would be beyond our control.
- Transport service will be available only during weekdays. The service will not be provided outside the term and exam dates. No refund will be provided once transportation service is confirmed.
Dubai and Sharjah
How to Apply
If you wish to book our transportation services, please follow the below steps.
- Please submit your request by filling out the Student Transportation Request Form. After submission, a confirmation email from transport@hw.ac.uk will be sent within five working days regarding the availability of the transportation service.
- Once you receive an email confirmation from us, please visit the Finance Office to make your payment. No partial payment option available, one year transport fee to be paid in advance.
- Please forward the payment receipt to transport@hw.ac.uk. Once received, Hertz will contact you within seven working days to share the details of your driver who will manage your pick-up and drop-off service. (Please note it will take 5 to 7 working days to book the service after payment receipt is submitted).
- Please note that as an exception you will be required to make your own arrangements to reach the campus on your first day. A home drop off service will be provided on the same day to capture your home address and timings accurately for the pickup / drop off service henceforth.

Bus fees
September Semester Application
The below fees are applicable for both semesters within the academic period from September to May only.
- Dubai: AED 8,000
- Sharjah: AED 8,500
January Semester Application
The below fees are applicable for one semester in the academic period from January to May only.
- Dubai: AED 4,000
- Sharjah: AED 4,250
Non-Semester fees
Extending the service into the months of June through August will be subjected to the demand received. If there is not adequate demand the buses will not run.

Abu Dhabi
For students residing in Abu Dhabi, Famous Transport Company provide transportation services across Abu Dhabi. Students are recommended to contact the provider for transportation services from the emirate of Abu Dhabi.

How to Apply
Arrangements for transportation are made directly with the Famous Transport Company, and not through Heriot-Watt University. We encourage all students to ensure they are comfortable with the arrangements and to review all terms and conditions provided by the Famous Transport Company before utilizing their service.
Disclaimer
Famous Transport Company is an external service provider. We recommend that you get in touch with them directly if you require transportation services from Abu Dhabi. The university is providing these details as a service to our students but does not hold responsibility for their operations.
Other Emirates
The transport service from/to Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al-Khaimah, Fujairah and Al Ain is currently unavailable until further notice due to logistical challenges. All students will be notified once these services are being made available.
Campus Parking
Our campus features ample underground parking located below the building, The car park offers flexible options to our students through either a parking permit or a paid hourly parking,
Parking Permit
A parking permit ensures students guaranteed parking at the premises. Due to high demand and limited parking slots, parking permit is issued through a lottery system and is only open to students who are enrolled.
Application: Students will be contacted through their university email address with an application link in advance at the start of the semester to apply for a permit. The allocation of parking permits will be conducted through a lottery system and students will be notified if selected in the ballot.
Cost: The cost for the parking permit is AED 1500.00 and deposit of AED 200 (refundable).
Payment: Selected students will be given a payment window to complete the process. If payment is not made within this window, the slot will be allocated to the next eligible student.
Duration: The permit is valid for two semesters.
Paid Parking
Students and visitors can access campus parking on an hourly basis. Spaces are available on a first come, first serve basis and are not guaranteed in the case of maximum occupancy.

- First 2 hours - Free
- Hourly rate - AED 10 per hour
- 17:00 to 23:00 - Free
- Weekends - Free
Postgraduate Students
If you are a Postgraduate student, parking on evenings (5pm – 11pm) and weekends are free. You may not be required to apply for a parking permit as your classes may coincide with complimentary parking hours. However, do note that parking without a permit is dependent on availability on a first come, first serve basis.
For People of Determination
We recognize and support the needs of our students of determination. If you fall under this category, please submit your POD card to fmhelpdeskdubai@hw.ac.uk, and we will issue a complimentary car parking access card.
