Talal Abdul Ghani Shaikh

Talal Shaikh is Undergraduate Director of Studies at Heriot-Watt University, Dubai in the School of Mathematical and Computer Sciences (MACS). Some of the subjects he teaches are Intelligent Robotics, Software Engineering and Artificial Intelligence. He is also a member of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA), UK.

He is an industry-turned academic with more than 10 years of industrial experience. Previously he was Chief Information Officer at a law firm where he managed several internal software development projects. Prior to this, he worked as a Software Engineer for an international company specialising in software solutions and consulting services for traffic and transportation, mobility, and logistics. 

His ongoing research covers computer vision, ubiquitous and pervasive computing, Machine to Machine (M2M) technologies and the Internet of Things. His academic area of interest also covers student learning and student experience.
