About
Dr Noor Zainab Habib joined Heriot -Watt University in 2016 as an Assistant Professor in Civil Engineering in the School of Energy, Geoscience, Infrastructure and Society at Heriot-Watt University. She completed her Bachelor of Engineering (B.E) in Civil Engineering and Master of Science (MSc) in Transportation Engineering from N.E.D University of Engineering and Technology Karachi, Pakistan. She was awarded a PhD degree in Civil Engineering in 2013 from Univiersiti Teknologi PETRONAS, Malaysia for her completion of her research in rheological and morphological analysis of polymer modified bituminous mixes and their effect on asphalt mix properties.
Biography
Noor’s research interest of civil engineering materials includes pavement materials, sustainable and green building materials, and effective utilization of waste generated from local and industrial sources as a constructive building material. Noor’s research work of utilization of waste vegetable oil as an effective building binder for the construction of roofing tiles which totally eliminated the use of any kind of cementitious binder or water during its production and manufacturing. This research was awarded a Gold Medal in the category of Invention at the 28th International Invention, Innovation and Technology exhibition (ITEX) 2017 held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Dr Noor is an active researcher with research collaboration outside U.A.E. She has been working as an external foreign research collaborator since 2016 with University Tunku Abdul Rahman, Malaysia, and various universities. She is also working on Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia Grant Funding.
Her research outputs to date includes 25 peer-reviewed journal articles and two book chapters. Based on Dr Noor’s research expertise in pavement and green building material she has been appointed as a grant evaluator for Chile Ministry of Science for the funding of FONDECYT-CHILE, 2021.
She also serves as a reviewer for the international journals such as Construction and Building materials, Cleaner Materials, and International Journal of Pavement Technology.
