Biography
Matt Smith is Associate Head of the School of Energy, Geoscience, Infrastructure and Society (EGIS) at Heriot-Watt University, Dubai.
He is responsible for overseeing the teaching and research portfolio of the School. This includes undergraduate and postgraduate education mostly in the area of built environment such as architecture, civil engineering, real estate management and finance, construction project management and petroleum engineering, as well as high-quality, high-impact research in several diverse areas.
Matt has been with Heriot-Watt University, Dubai since 2014. Prior to this, Matt was in charge of the chemical and petroleum engineering programmes at Universiti Technologi in Brunei. He has worked in academia for 12 years, and two years in the finance industry before that.
Originally from the United Kingdom, Matt is a geologist by training with an emphasis on mineral extraction.

E.Topriska, (Co-Investigators: H.N.Chaudhry, Research Assistant Mohamed Al Musleh) have recently signed an agreement with Dubai Municipality to fund their research in AE.
