About
Linsey Thomson joined Heriot-Watt University in 2012 as an Assistant Professor in Design and Construction, and is currently in role of Associate Professor(Dubai) for the Architectural Engineering discipline. She is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and is active in undergraduate and online teaching plus engages in field industry collaborations particularly in the areas of retrofitting of residential buildings from an efficiency and environmentally friendly focus.
Biography
Aside to Linsey teaching role, she is a department lead on supporting student talent and employability demands and actively partakes on creating collaborations, industry projects to further students exposure to industry standards and practice expectations. Linsey regularly invites companies and organizations to speak to students in learning environments so students can be at the fore front in understanding what they learn in the classroom and how it relates to industry currently.
Educational outreach to inspire the minds of younger school children is also an action undertaken by Linsey across each academic year in the UAE. Linsey leads the collaboration in the Middle East with a UK led education charity called Class of you Own that aims to raise the awareness of career directions in the Built environment. Schools benefit from Linsey inviting leading industry names such as Jacobs, Killa Design, U+A, Buro Happold into engagement activities to showcase what opportunities can await the next generation of professionals.
