About
Over the past two decades, Dr Ghaith has served at different positions in academia and industry. He is the Head of the School of Engineering and Physical Sciences at Heriot-Watt University, Dubai Campus. He has been a University Senate member since 2015. He joined the University Court in 2018 and served as a member of many University Court and Senate Committees. Dr Ghaith is Associate Professor in Mechanical Engineering. He delivers many mechanical and Energy Engineering courses at both undergraduate and post graduate levels.

Research
Dr Ghaith led multidisciplinary research in the areas of renewable energy, heat transfer and engineering education. His recent research focuses on solar powered cooling systems, integrated earth air heat exchangers and solar desalination. He employs his research to shape his teaching approach and provides students with research informed teaching. He has more than 43 technical papers that have been published in peer-reviewed international journals and presented in refereed international conferences.
The excellence of his publications can be viewed by their high industrial impact and integration between research and industrial needs. During the past years, Dr Ghaith developed new collaborations with major industrial firms for the purpose of attracting industrial grants and/or to expose engineering students to the latest areas of research within the local market.
Among employing his industrial experience, he supervised 2 PhD students, 18 MSc students and more than 36 engineering final year projects within industrial-oriented projects which focused on the new technologies of mechanical engineering and renewable energy.
Dr Ghaith has many external roles; Consultant, Principal Investigator, and reviewer of external funded research projects and he served as Chair in many international conferences. On the industrial side, he held different positions in the Oil and Gas industry such as Design and Development Engineer, technical purchasing manager and Engineering Consultant (2002-2010). During his service in these positions, he led many projects which exceeded the value of 10 million USD.
