Medals and prizes
One of the founding aims of The Watt Club, as proposed by its first President, Mr John E. Vernon, was "... to promote the interests of the School, by raising a Fund each year to provide prizes". Today, the Club continues to award and recognise exceptional students at Heriot-Watt through its main awards:
The Watt Club Medal
Awarded to final year undergraduates who have achieved the greatest distinction in their course.
The Watt Club Postgraduate Medal
Awarded to postgraduates who have achieved the greatest distinction in their academic school.
The Watt Club Prize
Awarded to students for outstanding overall achievement.
The Watt Club Volunteer Prize
Awarded in conjunction with Heriot-Watt Student Union to a student who has shown great commitment to volunteering alongside their studies. Throughout this, they must have shown leadership, initiative and provided a foundation with longevity for their efforts to be built upon.
