Liaison librarians
Each School has a designated Liaison Librarian, who is based at the Edinburgh or Scottish Borders Campus.
Support with teaching and enquiries
The Liaison Librarians provide support with teaching study skills including: -
- Literature searching and finding suitable sources for course work.
- Citing, referencing and avoiding plagiarism.
- Evaluating information sources.
- Using EndNote reference management software.
They provide in-person and online teaching sessions timetabled into courses and as part of the Skills Hub programme. Staff and students can also email them with enquiries and to set up one-to-one in-person or online appointments.
Support with library resources
The Liaison Librarians provide subject guides which curate and facilitate access to library resources relevant for their School or department.
They also administer requests for copyright cleared scans of published material for Canvas courses via the Digital Copies Service (see this page for the request form).
The Liaison Librarians are also key contact points for staff to request new resources such as literature databases or journal collections for the library.
School/department liaison
The Liaison Librarians are key contacts for feedback about or updates on library services and resources and attend School/department meetings e.g. Staff Student Liaison Committees.
Contact your School's Liaison Librarian by emailing them directly using the contact details below or from the Self Service Portal.
