Romain Leborgne

Romain from France graduated with an MSc Reservoir Evaluation and Management from the Institute of Petroleum Engineering at Heriot-Watt University in 2016.

The MSc in Reservoir Evaluation and Management (REM) teaches students how to be successful subsurface geoscientists and engineers, able to build models that can provide good predictions of reservoir behaviour.

What appealed to you most about Heriot-Watt University?

The REM programme teaches the integration of geological, geophysical, petrophysical and engineering data thoroughly and very well.

Do you think your Heriot-Watt postgraduate experience gave you an edge in your chosen field and why?

My research project would not have been possible without the strong links developed by the Institute of Petroleum Engineering with the oil and gas industry. After my graduation, I joined the company as a consultant petrophysicist to carry on the work I started in my research project.

After my graduation, I joined the company as a consultant petrophysicist to carry on the work. It's not a permanent job but this is a great experience and you never know what will happen next.

What advice would you give to a PG student considering Heriot-Watt?

The skills that you will learn will be invaluable to produce results that are useful and relevant for the oil and gas Industry. The network one gets is also very useful going forward.
