Why did you decide to study your PhD at Heriot-Watt University?

I heard about this project on my first trip to Edinburgh and was immediately intrigued. The project promised to be interesting, balancing theory and application of new simulation methods, but also challenging and I was up for a new challenge.

What was your experience of studying your PhD with the Carbonate Reservoirs group at Heriot-Watt University?

This was the best decision I could have made. The Carbonates group became my second family. The collegial atmosphere at Heriot-Watt and the unprecedented support from our advisor helped to overcome any troubles typical for a PhD and to achieve our goals. I have also profited a lot from our collaborations with other universities and industry exchanging ideas as well as learning new skills, attending conferences around the world and doing an internship at ExxonMobil.

Can you tell us a bit about what you're currently doing?

Today, I am a postdoctoral researcher at Stanford University. I am continuing my research in numerical methods of flow simulation in fractured porous media. The goal is to find an efficient way to predict flow preserving as much geological information as possible while reducing the computational cost.

I have profited a lot from our collaborations with other universities and industry.
