What appealed to you most about Heriot-Watt University?

Definitely due to their reputation and their extensive programme structure that does not solely revolve around Malaysian market demands but global demands too. Plus, the lakeside view is definitely a bonus!

What tips would you give to a student thinking of studying at Heriot-Watt?

Meet up with lecturers and current students to have more input on how the university differs from local universities. No matter how different it might seem, the experience is definitely rewarding!

What did you enjoy the most about studying your degree?

The experience I had gone through had been unforgettable. From site visits to lectures, the degree I once thought was rigid, had turned out to be exciting and unexpected. Pursuing Quantity Surveying at the university has taught me that I can break free from the norm; which most people has the perception that quantity surveyors only do work related to measurements. Subjects that have been taught were very rewarding as I am able to open my eyes to new possibilities.

Do you feel your degree has prepared you well for a career?

As of now, it is rather tough to answer that. I believe that, one will not be able to know the secrets in a successful career even at the end of it. However, due to the style of teaching, it would be easier for me to adapt as critical thinking it widely adopted in the university.

Has your degree programme helped you develop links with industry?

As internships are compulsory in my line of studies, I feel that the University has definitely helped me in that respect.

How do you think your degree will impact on your career prospects?

As mentioned before, the programme structure that the university offers is wide. Hence making it possible for me to open my eyes into specializing into something else. It has broadened my perspective in a positive way and I look forward to venturing in something out of the norm in the future.
