Data-driven insights into Freight Transport: An Inverse Demand Study of Origins and Destinations
Project Background
The aim of the project is to create a detailed picture of the demand for goods and the movement of heavy goods vehicles in Great Britain in order to better understand the freight transportation and logistics landscape. Various methods, such as machine learning, are used to create a matrix of where goods originate and where they are destined. The project takes a comprehensive approach, utilising data on heavy goods vehicle flows, socioeconomic factors, land usage, and land cover to generate an overall demand profile for goods in Great Britain.
