What made you choose to study at Edinburgh Business School, Heriot-Watt University?
I chose Heriot-Watt due to the quality of education and flexibility.
Why did you choose to study an MBA?
At that time, an MBA was necessary for me to jump to the next level, to catalyse 20 years of work experience and 10 years in management roles.
What's your favourite / most memorable memory of your time as a Heriot-Watt student?
My graduation day, talking to some Professors like Gavin Kennedy and being on campus. I cried with joy and my wife and daughter were there.
How would you summarise your time studying an MBA with the Edinburgh Business School?
Demanding, rigorous and amazing.
Tell us about your career since graduating from Heriot-Watt.
I continued working for a large Japanese firm, travelling around the world and getting involved in some challenging projects. Doing some consultancy work on the side. Years later, I got the chance to manage a company here in Japan and have a managing role in our Australian affiliate and lead business development opportunities in the Middle East.
How has your Heriot-Watt University education contributed to your success?
My career changed and things made more sense. I was more confident; my vision and mission became clearer.
How has your MBA benefited you personally?
I checked a very important box in my life. Some people are proud of having money or titles – I am proud of having an education.
What advice do you have for current students?
Go for it! If you have put some real work or management experience under your belt before enrolling, all the better.
What is your lasting impression of Heriot-Watt University?
Top-class education, vision and leadership.
What are your aspirations for the future? For your career? For your local and wider community?
The world is changing rapidly, and our aspirations also change as we mature. Time, health and sustainability are more important. I would like to spend more time contributing to a better distribution of wealth and resources and help provide opportunities to people that earn them.
