Project Title
Mapping the cumulative effects of human activities on marine mammals in UK waters: informing management, planning and conservation efforts
Abstract
During the PhD, I am going to be focusing on mapping and assessing cumulative impacts (such as underwater noise, strike, entanglement) to marine mammals in UK waters. I will be exploring how cumulative effects assessments are conducted in different UK countries (and further afield) and how these assessments align overall with the science. I hope to delve into how mapping tools can be better utilised within the assessment process for marine mammals, with the ultimate goal to inform conservation planning and ecosystem-based management.
The project is broad and will benefit from expertise from multiple collaborative partners and stakeholders, and so please do contact me if you would like to discuss the project and any potential collaborative opportunities.
