Alan is a Chartered Surveyor with more than 40 years experience in the Scottish and Middle East property markets. Prior to retiring from full time work in 2018, he served as CEO for JLL in the Middle East and Africa region and now has a part time involvement in the real estate markets through a number of consultancy and Non-Executive Director appointments. He has 25 years working in the Scottish commercial property markets as a consultant and has provided advice on property development, corporate real estate, valuation, leasing and sales. Alan has significant experience in the education sector with clients including Heriot-Watt University, Napier University and Queen Margaret University. He spent ten years living and working in Istanbul and Dubai and is experienced in advising corporate and institutional clients in these markets, including Heriot-Watt and other educational institutions.

Alan's experience as a volunteer includes guest lecturing at various universities. He served as a governor and Chair of the Governing Council at Erskine Stewarts Melville Schools, Edinburgh.

Alan's wider interests include skiing, golf, family and playing the bagpipes.
