43. Cryptomeria japonica sinensis
The Japanese Red Cedar is a large evergreen tree reaching 70 metres (230 feet) tall in its natural habitat. This one is the Chinese form of the species and stands 15 metres (50 feet) high. It has been known to live up to 1000 years old in the wild. The timber is very fragrant and is weather and insect resistant. Its wood is used for construction, cask making and furniture.
