My final year project focuses on my grandfather who passed away in August 2023 and specifically his struggle with Lewy Body dementia. I vividly portray his turbulent feelings and hallucinations on hand-dyed fabric. Regular trips to the hospital provided me with first-hand knowledge of the effects of the illness, which served as inspiration for a collection that connects with people who have gone through similar experiences and goes beyond personal grief. Through this collection, I aim to convey the complexity of dementia and foster empathy for those viewing it, offering solace, and understanding to those touched by its profound effects.
