'reBirth' by Gosia Czerwinska

'reBirth' is a gender-neutral stage costume collection made primarily out of scrap fabrics, deadstock materials and upcycled garments to showcase the theme of rebuilding for a better future.

The inspiration behind my collection is taken from the colourful late-renaissance buildings in the Warsaw Old Town, a rebuilt place after being destroyed. It is also a place in Poland I feel most drawn to as I recall a lot of fond childhood memories of Warsaw.

For the design, I mainly used the shape and colour of the architecture found in the Old Town and reworked it within my design development, additionally researching ways I can innovatively use scrap materials together through crochet, patchwork and layering.
