After meeting someone a similar age to myself that had undergone ileostomy surgery, we started discussing her wardrobe and I asked her what she required from her clothing to make her feel comfortable and confident. She replied, “It’s all in the underwear!”.

From this brief conversation I then deeply researched and conducted surveys into the market and their needs and wants from their underwear. This suggested there was a gap in the market for luxury lingerie for women with stomas that want aesthetically pleasing underwear that does not compromise the comfort.

I then progressed into designing a small range of lingerie sets, with one piece from each accommodating for the stoma pouch. These pieces include the Bodysuit, Brief, and Waspie, out of the garments that have been manufactured. They consist of a Sleeknit internal pocket which supports the stoma pouch and prevents it from rubbing against the sensitive skin.
