Enveloped in Joy

‘Enveloped in Joy’ is a knitwear collection that explores joy, through the use of colour and texture, and makes a statement on mental health and the need for its prioritisation over societal pressures for productivity.

The collection aims to highlight the emotional and wellbeing benefits that are greatly connected to the manufacturing process. The imagery and motifs are inspired by my happy place, the beach. They inform the patterns and textures, while the colour palette is bright and bold to spark joy. I’ve uses slow handcrafted techniques, for their therapeutic capabilities while textile making.

Domestic knitting machines offer intuitive techniques to translate motifs from my sketchbook, such as punch cards and intarsia, paired with hand stitching to add individuality and excitement to the collection.

The collection uses all natural animal fibres, such as lambswool and mohair, as they allow the knit to be biodegradable and antibacterial – reducing its environmental impact.
