Floratopia

‘Floratopia’, a collection of wallpaper designs, cushions and furnishing fabrics made from satin and cotton velvet, aims to provide a refreshing take on floral designs and breathe life into any room. My inspiration has come from flowers from my home garden in Glasgow, as well as Bank Street Gardens outside my home at Heriot-Watt University.

Biophilic design is the main theme of my project, which involves incorporating natural elements into indoor spaces, and refers to the inherent connection between humans and the natural world. By using techniques such as sublimation and digital printing, I was able to create impactful and engaging large-scale floral and butterfly designs that are not only aesthetically pleasing, but also have a positive impact on human well-being.
