Cathedral Chroma

A collection of women's overcoating fabrics for autumn/winter, inspired by British artist John Piper. Beginning with sketchbook work looking at Elgin Cathedral, Melrose Abbey, and Beauly Cathedral taking influence from Piper's moody yet vibrant style.

The collection uses British wool yarns from Shepley and Knoll and deadstock yarns from Lovat Mill, translating Piper's textures and colours into woven samples. From checks to large-scale designs, each piece experiments with colour, texture, and structure, adding a playful twist to tradition.

The development of the collection was informed by market research into British wool products and producers and research into contemporary designs in the couture market, including brands like Chanel and Dries Van Noten.
