Interlaced Identities

A kitchenware collection inspired by the intersection of Hungarian traditional textile practices and Scottish made fibres. Through research with the local craftsmen of the Kalotaszeg region, I was able to grasp a small part of Hungarian heritage that has long been forgotten. Imbued with the stylistic elements unique to this region, through various structural choices and embellishments on finished samples - such as embroidery and discharge printing.

Utilising the natural colour of hemp in contrast with a darker palette of wool yarns echoes the archived patterns of the Kalotaszeg region. The integration of hemp adds a practical quality, making it well-suited for a kitchenware collection. These products have been designed to be long-lasting items that offer functionality as well as aesthetic appeal, placing my collection alongside the diverse product range of ‘Labour and Wait’.
