Anna Drabner-Graham

For my final project I have created bespoke pieces of knitted art, with the intent that these designs be used for interior products. My visual inspiration has come from a local walk to Leaderfoot Viaduct in the Scottish Borders, from which I have captured the different moods, textures, touches, and appearances of surfaces along the way.

I love bold and bright colours and have taken my colour palette from famous art pieces. The vibrancy and uniqueness of the colour combinations has helped with the individual and distinct overall appearance of my work. My key contemporary influences have come from Claire Anne O’Brien, Roisin Alexandra R.A.M. Knitwear, and Donna Wilson.

I have mostly used redundant surplus yarns from local knitwear companies, such as Barrie Knitwear and Johnston of Elgin. This has helped me to be more sustainability and promote the circular economy. I want to continue this relationship by tapping into the knitwear industry and developing what is already on my doorstep.
