'Temper' and 'Virago' by Lauren Kinnear

‘Temper’ is a contemporary publication that looks at issues surrounding anger as an emotion and how women experience anger so similarly to men, but are not allowed to express it in the same way. My publication looks at this issue through a timeline, beginning at motherhood and ending at becoming elderly and how, at each point throughout life, there is always issues to be angry about, but it is never allowed to be acted on.

My portfolio, ‘Virago’ accompanies and explores feminine rage from a different angle. It looks at the issues of cat-calling and the effects misogynistic language can have on a woman’s life.

My imagery focuses on expression, whilst also being bright and vibrant, exploring an issue I think is often overlooked. My hopes are that my body of work brings light to these issues in a way that is modern and fashion-forward
