Transforming healthcare
We are now faced with the most pressing health challenges of our time including cancer, chronic diseases and global health threats. Through a multidisciplinary and collaborative approach, we combine the expertise of engineers, researchers and healthcare professionals to push the boundaries of what's possible in health and care innovation.
Our research intersects biological research, the physical sciences and engineering. A foundation of interdisciplinary research in the Institute of Biological Chemistry, Biophysics and Bioengineering, has led to high-impact results in a wide range of specialisms from nanomaterials and toxicology to 3D bioprinting.
Collaboration is key to driving innovation and adoption of health and care technologies including multi-partner projects such as the Medical Device Manufacturing Centre and Tay Heath Tech. Now the mission of our Global Research Institute in Health and Care Technologies is to drive collaboration and co-creation, to develop innovative solutions to improve patient care and health outcomes.
